I was fortunate to have worked several years in the legal-tech industry as an operations and project manager early in the courtroom transition from analog (paper) documents to digital (electronic) documentation. During my tenure as Regional Operations Manager I oversaw the creation of three permanent image capture sites and managed on-site projects in places where the documentation could not leave the premises.
I began my undergrad work in Georgia in 2005 and gained an A.A. in History, a B.A. in Public and Political Communication and an M.F.A. in Digital Media/Directing from the Film & Theater Studies Dept. at the University of Georgia in 2012.
I returned home to help care for my parents in time to be present for my father’s passing.
I was intrigued by the Digital Literacy program at Fairmont State University as a course of study that complemented my academic and life experience. I completed my M.Ed. in Digital Media and New Literacies and Learning in August of 2017.
I have always been experientially curious and wanted to reflect that in my academic work and achievements.
The success I achieved while working in the corporate sphere was largely the result of thinking, strategizing and executing with an artist’s brain, which allowed me personal permissions to exercise a range of imagination not naturally utilized in that world.
My experience at the University of Georgia includes two years as a graduate research assistant with an interdisciplinary think-tank called I.C.E. (Ideas for Creative Exploration: http://ideasforcreativeexploration.com/) and one year re-designing the theater department’s Interactive Performance Lab (IPL).
I believe that 21st century classrooms should be grounded in a curriculum that favors teaching students research strategies and how to learn while exciting the desire to learn; with these attributes strongly instilled, the opportunities open to students can be innumerable.
